Help and FAQ

Ordering

How long does delivery take?

Usually seconds. Delivery starts automatically as soon as M-Pesa confirms your payment. It depends on Telegram, so now and then it takes longer; if it does, the bot tells you, and you can follow the order under My Orders.

Do I need a Telegram username?

The account that receives Stars or Premium needs a username, and that includes yours if you buy for yourself. Here's how to set one. A Star Giveaway goes to a public channel or group with a @username instead.

Can I buy for someone else?

Yes. Choose Someone else and type their username. The bot shows you the account Telegram found before you pay, so you can check it's the right person. Premium can only go to a personal account that doesn't already have Premium.

Can I pay any other way?

No, only with M-Pesa, by approving the prompt the bot sends to your phone. We don't take cards. Please don't send money to us any other way: we can't match it to an order.

Why did the price change?

Prices follow the exchange rate, so they can change from day to day. The price on your order summary is held for the time shown there; if that time runs out, start a new order at the current price. Today's prices are on the Stars, Premium and Star Giveaways pages.

Are there limits?

Yes: on the size of an order, on how much you can order in a day, and on how often you can order or request M-Pesa prompts. The bot tells you when a limit applies.

Paying with M-Pesa

How does the M-Pesa prompt work?

When you tap Pay and choose a number, M-Pesa shows a prompt on that phone. Check that the amount matches your order, then enter your M-Pesa PIN on the prompt to approve it. The bot confirms as soon as M-Pesa tells us the payment went through.

The prompt didn't arrive

Check that the phone is on, has signal and holds the M-Pesa line you chose, then try again from the bot. If prompts to a number are ignored or cancelled several times, new prompts to it pause for a while, so cancel only when you mean to.

Does M-Pesa charge a fee?

M-Pesa may charge its own fee under your M-Pesa tariff. Our price, shown on your order summary, is the total we charge for the order.

Is it safe? Will you ask for my PIN?

We never ask for your M-Pesa PIN and we never see it. Enter it only on the M-Pesa prompt on your own phone. Nobody from Oya Stars will ask you for your PIN, your Telegram login code or money outside the bot.

Delivery and refunds

My order hasn't arrived

Open My Orders in the bot (or send /orders): it shows the status of each order. If delivery is taking longer than expected, the bot tells you. If you're still unsure, message @apefix with your order code.

What if you can't deliver my order?

We refund the amount M-Pesa confirms you paid, to the M-Pesa number that paid, and the bot tells you when the refund is sent.

I typed the wrong username

Delivered Stars, Premium and Star Giveaways can't be reversed, moved to another account or refunded, including when they went to a wrong username. That's why the bot shows you the account it found before you pay: please check it carefully.

Can I cancel an order?

Nothing is charged until you approve the M-Pesa prompt. Tap Cancel on the order summary, or cancel the prompt on your phone if it has already arrived. Once you've paid, delivery starts straight away.
