How to buy Telegram Stars with M-Pesa

Short answer: Open our Telegram bot, tap Buy Telegram Stars, choose who gets them and how many, check the order and tap Pay. Approve the M-Pesa prompt on your phone with your PIN, and the Stars arrive automatically, usually within seconds. It takes about a minute; here's each step and what to do if something goes wrong.
Before you start
- The account that will get the Stars needs a Telegram username. Set one first if it doesn't have one.
- Have the phone with your M-Pesa line nearby, with enough M-Pesa balance for the order.
Step 1: Open the bot
Open Oya Stars in Telegram with the button on this page. The first time, tap Start. Then tap Buy Telegram Stars.
Step 2: Choose who gets the Stars
Tap Myself, or Someone else and type their username (with or without the @). The bot checks it with Telegram and shows you the account it found. Make sure it's the right one: delivered Stars can't be moved to another account.
Step 3: Choose how many
Tap a package; each button shows its price in KES. For a different number, tap Other Amount and type it.
Step 4: Check your order and pay
The bot shows Your Order: how many Stars, who gets them and the price. The price is held for the minutes shown there. If it's all correct, tap Pay.
Step 5: Choose your M-Pesa number
If you've paid before, the bot offers the number you last paid with, shown like 07•••••678; tap it, or Use another number. Otherwise, type the M-Pesa number to pay from, starting 07 or 01. You can pay from any M-Pesa line you're allowed to use.
Step 6: Approve the M-Pesa prompt
The bot says it has sent a payment request to your phone. An M-Pesa prompt then appears on that phone. Check that the amount is the price of your order, and enter your M-Pesa PIN to approve it.
Enter your PIN only on that prompt. We never ask for it in a message, a call or on any website, and we never see it. More on spotting scams.
Step 7: Get your Stars
As soon as M-Pesa confirms the payment, the bot sends Payment Received with your order number and starts the delivery. When the Stars arrive, usually within seconds, you get an Order complete message. Every order is listed under My Orders in the bot.
If something goes wrong
The prompt doesn't arrive
Check that the phone is on, has signal and holds the M-Pesa line you chose. Give it a minute, then try again from the bot. After several prompts in a row are ignored or cancelled, new prompts to that number pause for a while.
The bot says Payment Failed
M-Pesa didn't take the payment, usually because of a wrong PIN, not enough balance, or because the prompt timed out. Nothing was charged. Give it a minute and try again; if it keeps failing, message @apefix.
Paid, but the Stars haven't arrived
The bot tells you if a delivery is taking longer than expected, and My Orders shows where it is. If we can't deliver, we refund the amount you paid to the number that paid.
