How to send Telegram Gifts from Kenya

Short answer: Telegram Gifts are paid for with Telegram Stars from your Stars balance. Open the person's profile and tap Gift, or go to Settings › Send a Gift, choose a gift and pay with Stars. Everyday gifts cost from 15 to 100 Stars. If your balance is short, top it up with M-Pesa on Oya Stars first.

What you need

Stars in your balance. Your balance shows at the top right of the gift screen. Buy Stars with M-Pesa in our bot: they arrive in your account, usually within seconds, ready to spend on gifts.
The person's Telegram account. A contact, someone you've chatted with, or anyone whose profile you can open. You can also buy a gift for yourself.

Send a gift from someone's profile

Open a chat with the person and tap their name at the top to open their profile.
Tap Gift, next to Call.
The screen shows Gift Premium at the top and Send a Gift below it. Scroll to Send a Gift and choose a gift. Each one shows its price in Stars.
Add a message if you like. You can also choose to hide your name: the person still sees who sent it, but others don't when the gift is shown on their profile.
Tap the button to pay. The Stars come off your balance and the gift arrives in their chat straight away.

Send a gift from Settings, or buy one for yourself

Open Settings and scroll down to Send a Gift.
A list of your contacts opens, with you at the top under This is You. Choose yourself or anyone in the list, or search for someone.
Choose a gift and pay with Stars, as above.

All Gifts and Collectibles

The gift screen has two tabs.

All Gifts lists Telegram's everyday gifts, such as a heart, a teddy bear, a rose, a cake or a trophy, for 15 to 100 Stars each. These never run out. The tab also shows limited editions and collectibles that owners are reselling.
Collectibles lists only unique gifts that their owners have put up for sale (marked resale). They cost from about 500 Stars to millions, and the owner sets the price. On Telegram they are paid for with Stars; some are also sold for Gram, Telegram's cryptocurrency (formerly called Toncoin).

What the person can do with a gift

Keep it on their profile, where visitors can see it.
Turn it into Stars. An everyday gift can be converted to Stars for a while after it arrives. The gift disappears and the Stars go to their balance; Telegram shows how many before they confirm, and it can be less than the gift cost.
Upgrade it to a collectible, for a small number of Stars. It then gets its own look, background and number.

A collectible can be worn: set as the owner's emoji status, it changes their profile to match the gift. It can also be given to someone else, sold on Telegram for Stars, or moved to the TON blockchain. Every collectible has its own t.me/nft/… link.

Gifting Telegram Premium

Premium is a separate kind of gift. In the Telegram app you pay for it in KES through Google Play, by bank card or M-Pesa Xpress, not with your Stars balance. You can also get Premium for anyone with a username in our bot and pay with M-Pesa: see Telegram Premium.

Stay safe

Buy and sell gifts only inside Telegram. Someone who wants you to send Stars, M-Pesa or crypto first, in exchange for a collectible, is very likely a scammer.
Check a collectible's link. A real one opens at t.me/nft/… and shows its owner and history in Telegram.
Never share your login code with anyone offering a gift, a swap or free Stars.
