How to pay for Telegram Premium in Kenya

Short answer: In Kenya you can get Telegram Premium in the Telegram app (paid in KES through Google Play, by card or M-Pesa, or the App Store), through Telegram's @PremiumBot (by card, in some versions of the app), on Fragment (with crypto), or as a 3, 6 or 12-month gift in our bot, paid with the M-Pesa prompt on your phone. Telegram Stars can't pay for Premium.

1. In the Telegram app
For yourself: open Settings, scroll down to Telegram Premium and choose a monthly or annual plan. It renews until you cancel it in your store's subscriptions.
As a gift: open the person's profile, tap Gift (next to Call) and choose 3, 6 or 12 months of Premium at the top of the screen. A gift doesn't renew.
Either way you pay in KES through your app store. On Android, Google Play opens and takes a bank card or M-Pesa, shown as M-Pesa Xpress; on iPhone you pay with whatever your Apple ID accepts. Your Stars balance can't be used: the gift screen's Stars are only for Telegram Gifts.
Good for: a monthly plan for yourself, if Google Play or the App Store works for you.
2. @PremiumBot
Telegram's own bot sells Premium at a discount, because Apple and Google take no fees on it. But it only works in the direct versions of Telegram, downloaded from telegram.org, and you pay with the methods it offers, such as a bank card. Why @PremiumBot may not work for you.
Good for: people with a card that works there and a direct version of Telegram.
3. Fragment
Fragment sells 3, 6 and 12-month Premium, for yourself or as a gift, for cryptocurrency from a TON wallet. You need a wallet and crypto first, and Fragment may ask you to verify your identity. What is Fragment?
Good for: people who already use crypto.
4. Oya Stars, with M-Pesa
Telegram Premium gifts are coming soon. Stars are available now. When Premium opens, you'll be able to buy a 3, 6 or 12-month gift for any username in our Telegram bot and pay with M-Pesa: no card, no app store and no wallet.
Good for: paying with M-Pesa, and gifting Premium to someone by their username.
Which should you choose?
- If your app store already takes a way to pay that you have, subscribing in the app is the simplest, and a monthly plan costs less up front than our shortest gift, 3 months.
- If you have a card that works and can install Telegram from telegram.org, @PremiumBot is cheaper than the app stores, Telegram says.
- If you want 3, 6 or 12 months of Premium, for yourself or as a gift, paid with the M-Pesa prompt on your phone, Oya Stars is made for that: compare the prices in the table above.
Whichever you choose: a Premium gift from Fragment or from us can only go to a personal account that doesn't already have Premium, and nobody needs your Telegram login code to give you Premium.
One thing Premium doesn't reliably do is stop Telegram's login fee: it can appear even on accounts that already have Premium.

Yes: from their profile's Gift button in the app, on Fragment, or in our bot by typing their username. They mustn't have Premium already.
Does a Premium gift renew automatically?
No. A gift lasts 3, 6 or 12 months and then ends, unless someone buys another. Only a subscription you take out yourself in the app renews.
